PRODUCT

In our V4 bibs and shorts, all panels in the garment are made with 100% wool. Because of this, we only recommend this model to use with smooth leather saddles, as the seat panels in these bibs can age prematurely if used with most modern saddles, which have grippier, more abrasive textures. In terms of fit, the inseam length on these is the shortest of all the bibs and shorts in our collection.

Our Simbiosis R and Superbrevet R bibs and shorts share the same construction, using 100% wool in all panels except the seat area panels, which are made with a single layer of recycled polyamide. In the Simbiosis R Thermal Knicks and Tights, the seat area has a double layer (100% wool inside, recycled poly outside). The cargo pockets are also made with recycled polyamide. These models offer more durability on the seat panels and inner legs when used with modern saddles.

The main difference between the Simbiosis R and Superbrevet R is the reflective band on the lower leg in the Superbrevet R models. The Superbrevet bibs and shorts have the longest inseam in our collection, which is a little over 1cm longer than in Simbiosis II for any given size. Both models offer the option to add a clip on the bib straps to drop the tail for easier bathroom access.

FIT & SIZING

Each product has its own Sizing Guide below the product description, with video instructions for taking your measurements, some notes on fit for the specific product and a size chart. This information can also be found in our main Sizing Guide here.

We recommend to follow the instructions in the video to take your measurements, and to use the corresponding chart to select the closest size to your measurements. The first measurement to select your size for jerseys is your chest circumference, whereas for bibs and shorts, you should start by checking your hips circumference against our charts.

Because our unique approach and commitment to sustainable production, with our products being made-to-order in our own studio, we’re able to make modifications to our standard sizing, if needed. Some simple modifications we can make free of charge, while more complex ones and/or fully customized patterns will incur in some extra costs.

We’ve developed our own patterns and fit based on extensive anthropomorphic data, our own testing on the bike and on fit models, and the feedback we have received from our customers over many years of using our products in a wide range of conditions.

Each item’s fit is specifically designed for its intended use on and off the bike, and carefully considers how to get the best performance and comfort from our exclusive, natural and non-petroleum materials. As such, it is impossible for us to give you a direct comparison in terms of size or fit with any specific brand in the market and we strongly discourage choosing your size solely based on the one you currently use on other cycling brands. Please, read the Sizing Guide in each product, which contains video instructions for taking your measurements, some notes on fit for the specific product and a size chart. This information is also available in our main Sizing Guide here.

All our our models of bibs and shorts are designed to fit snug prior to wash and will tighten further after the first wash, as this ensures correct pad positioning.

Because of the differences in materials, patterns and elastics used between our different models of bibs and shorts, you could notice very slight differences in fit between them, but your size should stay consistent across our range.

The main difference in terms of fit will be in the inseam, with V4 bibs and shorts being the shortest and Superbrevet R being closest to the knee. These are the approximate inseam lengths for size M for the different models:

  • V4: Men’s: 22,4cm (8’’3/4) / Women’s: 21 cm (8’’1/4)
  • Simbiosis R: Men’s: 26,7cm (10’’1/2) / Women’s: 24,2 cm (9’’1/2)
  • Superbrevet R: Men’s: 27,9cm (11’’) / Women’s: 25,4 cm (10’’)

Yes. This depends mainly on the intended use they are designed for. Some jerseys, such as the ones from our Everjourn collection, are designed for bikepacking and off-road/gravel and offer a more casual fit ('Fireside' fit) that transitions better to off the bike use. Other jerseys are more tailored to road cycling and are designed with a tighter, performance fit that is also a bit shorter on the body, so as not to interfere with pedaling when on the drops. Our Simbiosis II Jersey has the tightest, most aggressive fit in our line-up.

Please, refer to the descriptions and Sizing Guide in each product to understand better how it fits.

Compared with our previous V3 model, our V4 bibs and shorts offer a tighter fit around the hips and buttocks, a more true to size fit and a construction with less seams.

V4 bibs and shorts are cut slightly higher on the waist front than V3s. The inseam lengths in our V4 models are also a bit shorter than in the V3s as sizes get larger (size S inseam length stays consistent between V3 and V4, but is slightly shorter in V4 for sizes M to 2XL)

Compared with our previous Simbiosis model, our Simbiosis R bibs and shorts offer a tighter fit around the hips and buttocks and a more true to size fit.

Simbiosis II bibs are also cut higher on the waist front, with the yoke covering the navel. The inseam lengths in our Simbiosis R models are also a bit shorter than in the previous version as sizes get larger (size S inseam length stays consistent between the two versions, but is slightly shorter in Simbiosis II for sizes M to 2XL).

Compared with our previous Superbrevet model, our Superbrevet R bibs and shorts offer a tighter fit around the hips and buttocks and a more true to size fit.

Superbrevet R bibs are also cut higher on the waist front, with the yoke covering the navel. The inseam lengths in our Superbrevet R models are also a bit shorter than in the previous version as sizes get larger (size S inseam length stays consistent between the two versions, but is slightly shorter in Simbiosis R for sizes M to 2XL).

CUSTOM

Quick Custom consists in adding a little touch of personalization to a product from our online collection, like a initials or an embroidered name - maybe for a gift! We've optimized this process to not have the additional factors that full custom has.

Full custom is for when you want to design a dream product different from those in the store, likely in larger volume for a group, club or event. This is a more involved process and requires a discussion, drawings, a sample jersey and a little more back-and-forth communication.

There are no minimums. You can do full custom and purchase just one garment but ideally you choose stock patterns and processes, stock colors and finishings. Understandably, if you desire custom drafted patterns, non-stock finishings and merino dyed to a specific pantone colors we can only do that economically if you order a larger, set number of pieces. In theory, that could still be just 1 piece, but that'll cost ya. Another case of less (garments) is more (cost). Garments are discounted by volume.

Discounts for custom orders from in-stock materials are, in general*, at 7, 14, 26, 61, 101, 251+ pieces. *this is true 99% of the time.

If it is a registered trademark in force, we absolutely will not do it without permission from the brand. Any brand trademarks we have done have been with permission or in collaboration (Crust, Kona, Rocky Mountain, Magura, etc). It is trademark infringement to reproduce another company's logo without permission, and especially to profit off of it. Any company who does so to make a few bucks has just put a price on their business ethics and we are not that type of company. We're creative folk, I'm sure we can come up with something rad (rather than stealing) if permission cannot be had.

We can dye to pantone in the 190gsm lightweight merino, with a minimum order of approx. 60 garments per custom color. We cannot custom dye the 285gsm midweight at the moment. However, we can offer the midweight in 45 colors,  of which we stock 18. To bring in non-stock 285gsm colors will also have a MOQ of approx. 40 pieces per color. Custom colors will increase lead time.

Simply because we have no idea how much time or work your mystery item will involve. We're uniquely able to build you a never-before-seen-or-made garment so we can't quote a price for an item that we haven't seen or maybe isn't possible. The more upfront information you can provide the more accurate estimation we can return. We don't guarantee a final price per piece until we've made a sample and it's been approved. Collection products can be a general idea of pre-volume-discounted price for a similar garment.

No. Sublimation is a printing process optimized for polyester fabrics, is not for merino, and is responsible for some of the worst looking jerseys in cycling history. Embroidery is always class and so, we embroider. When designing for embroidery simple text or iconic logos work best, less is more.

No, we don't. We don't have any petroleum-based textiles in the studio, we're not set-up to do synthetics and it's just not our thing. Our garments are petroleum-free, environmentally friendly products. We don't want our jerseys contributing to the micro-plastics in the ocean problem - 'sustainability' info-drop: this happens when you wash polyester clothing in your washing machine.

Chainstitch, also called Chenille, is embroidery characterized by a thick, looping, voluminous texture often seen on ‘vintage’ garments. It’s great for vintage jerseys, large embroidery elements and has good elasticity. Standard embroidery, often called “satin stitch” is flatter, dense embroidery which excels when doing small details, text or fine elements and logo work. Standard embroidery can do it all, and has low set-up costs, but with very large text it can be a stiff, non-elastic portion of the jersey which can be less ideal, especially on the lightweight jerseys. We'll make recommendations which match your design/goals to any mfg considerations.

Patterns describe garment fit, sleeve type and seams and are often designed for a specific textile. Yes, we can change them. We make base patterns that satisfy 98% of customer requests, and they'll likely work for you. The various items in our store are built on those base patterns. In general, we can add to or slightly modify the fit or features of pattern with little to no added cost. However, significant modifications will incur additional costs. Completely new custom patterns start at 250€.

It’s a sleeve construction characterized by a single piece of sleeve textile that curves up from the ‘sleeve hole’ and attaches at the collar while having no seam on the top of the shoulder and leaving a diagonal or curved seam line from the underarm up to the collar. Google it! We also have patterns that feature the more common ‘set-in’ sleeve, with a traditional arm hole and seam at the shoulder. > Can you make patches or sew patches onto the jerseys? Yes, of course. Patches are normally made with standard (“satin stitch”) embroidery, so it may be more efficient if we just embroider the jersey directly. However, if the volume of pieces is enough, or you have patches already made, or you just want them, we can sew them on, or make them for you and sew them on.

While our focus is direct-to-customer, we can make garments for resellers on a case-by-case basis. We've previously made garments for The Service Course, Kona Bicycles, Rocky Mountain Bicycles, Brompton Bicycles, Magura and many shops, cafes and startups. It depends on the garment and the goals. It never hurts to ask!

Short answer, No. Long answer is no but comes with an email explanation. Again, we're a direct-to-customer gig, but if your project works then we can collab on a tag design if needed!

SALES, DISCOUNTS & PROMOTIONS

We don't offer any traditional sales or discounts. The reasons are below. If we ever run any kind of promotion, it'll a bit more untraditional in nature and will be offered, first and foremost, to our newsletter subscribers. We recommend that you join our newsletter to stay informed. You can do so here.

The status quo of the garment industry is built on margins of 8-10x production costs determining the final price the customer pays. These large margins are deemed necessary for a global mass distribution and wholesale system. To enable this, production costs are driven to a minimum with low-cost labor and textiles and evasion of environmental protections. This system depends on moving over-produced stock through blow-out sales and discounts and much old stock is burned to avoid brand devaluation.

Our sustainable model is the opposite: we sell customer-direct with slim margins to offer you the best kit we can make at the best price we can offer. We don’t wholesale. We prioritize the best materials and in-house labor; and we have virtually no stock, as our items are made to order. Any business claiming sustainability must eliminate over-production as the status-quo is unsustainable. Because of this, you’ll rarely see traditional sales or discounts offered on our website.

We currently don’t have an industry discount program in place. For a better understanding of our approach to production, pricing and discounts, please, read also the answer above.
